Let’s talk about family meal plans and how helpful they are. Meal Plans have become more and more popular and there are so many great ones that you can find on Pinterest. It also really helps us to eat more healthy and nutritious meals. If we plan meals in advance, we are less likely to dash to the shops last minute and buy junk food. My husband and daughter rarely have a dinner request and I’m rubbish at last-minute meal ideas. So I really couldn’t go without ours and always have it ready for Saturdays, as that’s the day we do our big food shop for the following week.
We have our meal plan in the kitchen and I update it every week. It helps avoid those constant nagging questions of ‘what’s for dinner’? Let me know if you want me to upload my meal plan template, you only need to print it once.

MONDAY – EASY BUTTERNUT SQUASH & CHORIZO GNOCCHI
Gnocchis are one of these foods that people tend to forget about. We really like them, it’s nice alternative to rice, normal potatoes or pasta. I used this dish to introduce butternut squash and goats cheese to my family, they wouldn’t have touched it otherwise. You can find it here.
TUESDAY- SAUSAGE BAKE WITH POTATOES AND GRAVY
One Pan Dish? Yes please, anything to reduce the amount of dishes I have to clean up. Everything can be cooked in one pan and this is a definite winner for even the fussiest eater. You can find the recipe here.
WEDNESDAY – CHICKEN GYROS WITH TZATIKI
A really nice gyros is something that I miss from Germany. But this is such a nice and healthy recipe, you can use wraps or pitta bread. We add extra salad and somethings some chips on the side. You can find the recipe here.
THURSDAY – ROASTED RED PEPPER RIGATONI
This is one of our favorite pasta dishes, it’s so easy to make and I always have the ingredients at home. The recipe calls for half-and-half, but I just substitute it with milk or cream. – We serve it with garlic bread and salad. You can find the recipe here.
FRIDAY – GREEN BEANS, CHICKEN & POTATO
Another One Pan Dinner, I just love them. You can prepare these in the morning and just put them in the oven later on in the day. We also like to add pancetta to green beans. You can find the recipe here.
SATURDAY – SHEPHERD’S PIE
Saturday is always so busy in our house, I like to prepare meals in the morning, as we are normally out all day. Shepherd’s pie has got to be my daughter’s favourite. I normally make an extra big portions and freeze leftovers for my husband to take to work. This isn’t my own recipe that I use, but it’s just as good. You can find it here.
SUNDAY – MEATLOAF
We love a big meal on Sunday, but it gets boring when you have a roast every weekend. It took me years to finally find a meatloaf recipe that I love, but this is the best one there is! We serve it with mash and our favourite veg. You can find the recipe here.
